RIBS: More ‘Sounds Of The Season’…
Filed under: Blues, Christmas, Music, Playlists, Podcasts, Soul/R&B, SoulTrackin', radio.blog
Two more “not just the usual stuff” Xmas mixes have been posted on RIBS for your holiday enjoyment.
The Xquizzyt1 was kind enough to send me a mix she had created a while back and after a minor tweak here and a minor tweak there we have:
…chock full of some all-time favorite and familiar holiday soul jams.
Next we pulled some of our special ingredients out of the cubbard to mix together:
…now, I’m not talking the “boo-hoo, I wanna cry my eyes out” kind of Blues, but rather the John Lee Hooker, B.B. King, Charles Brown “I got soul down deep in my heart” kind of Blues.
Let’s see… so far that’s 4 Christmas mixes for the holiday and there’s still a couple of more (at least) to go before we get to the BIG day.
Enjoy!
RIBS: What Do The Lonely Do At Christmas?

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
This classic opening line from Dickens’ “A Tale Of Two Cities” is so very true when it comes to the Christmas holiday season. For most folks, they couldn’t be happier than they are at this time of year. However, for some others, they couldn’t be sadder nor more depressed.
It was with this latter thought in mind that this week’s RIBS Triple Play Thurs-Day mix was created:
RIBS TPTD: “Broken-Hearted” Xmas
Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to bum ya out or anything; just taking a minute to look at the other side of the holiday season.
SoulTrackin’ – NetInfoWeb’s ‘SoulSites’ Aggregator Page…
Filed under: Blogosphere, Blues, DailyLinks, Gospel, Jazz, Latin Jazz, Music, Music News, Playlists, Podcasts, RIBS, SoulSites
Looking for soul music? Try the NetInfoWeb ‘SoulSites’ Aggregator Page! A ’single page aggregator’ listing 45 Soul, R&B and Jazz music sites for you to enjoy.
Over the weekend one of my new Twitter friends asked the following question…
“Anybody know of any good music sites?”
Now, that’s just the kind of question that this site, NetInfoWeb 2.0, was created to answer! After all, our byline *is* “Trackin’ the Sites, Trackin’ the SOUL!”
Ever since I revamped and refocused the site last year, it’s goal has been to seek and out and discover good websites and/or blogs that were talking about and promoting Soul, R&B, Jazz, Blues and Gospel music online. I try to point to my discoveries via these “SoulTrackin’” posts, in addition to keeping and maintaining a list of the sites I’ve found in the blogroll in the left sidebar.
One of the other things I have always wanted to do was to not only find and list good soul music websites (dubbed ‘SoulSites’), but also automatically list the titles of the headlines of new messages posted on these sites. The layout/functionality I wanted was similar to what you could find on the ’single page aggregators’ like POPURLS or Original Signal.
Fortunately, sometime over the summer I stumbled upon the Spotback website and their personalized news capability at News.Spotback.com. By using the NewsSnacks feature in this section I was able to create my own customized single-page aggregator for ‘SoulSites’ blogs that I had been thinking about.
In actuality, while the link to the NetInfoWeb ‘SoulSites’ Aggregator Page has been posted in the sidebar for sometime, I have never really promoted it much because I’ve been meaning to cleanup the list of sites it contained. Well, I finally got “A Round Tuit”, purged some sites, added some others and now the page is ready for its official unveiling.
Check it out and let me know what you think.

Bad News/Good News. The bad news is that the Thanksgiving holiday is over and we are all making our way back to the daily grind this morning (not to mention that we’ll still be eating turkey of some sort for the rest of the week! {smile}). The GOOD NEWS… SY over at SoulYankee is feeling better and has re-opened her blog. Good news indeed. Pace yourself, SY, and welcome back!
Only 5 more… that’s the number of comments/requests needed over on SOULCrates to get GrantLove to release his latest mix, Stop On By, for download. Come on people, we can do it! {smile}
Speaking of stopping on by, you should do just that and check out Darcy’s Feel It. The latest post is a wonderful bit on the woman who, IMHO, put the “sass” in sassy, Ms. Millie Jackson.
Over on Rifftides, Doug Ramsey notes the passing of Anita O’Day and Walter Booker; and also has some thoughts about Tony Bennett.
QS_BIRD has released a nice trio of mixes on R&B_QuietStorm: In The Mood For Love… From A To Z – Vol. 8; Goodbye My Love; and the Quietstorm of “CAMEO”.

Whoo-Hoo!! I just love discovering new sites focused on the music I love. Andy Aitchison is your host, drop by and check him out.
All That Jazz: In Celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month
I don’t talk about my love for jazz enough on this blog so I figure jazz appreciation month is the perfect time to do so. I have to admit that my knowledge is lacking. Mama Vivrant Thang was never really into jazz so it wasn’t played much around the house. She did love Kenny G though and [...]
The “Boys” Are Back In Town…
Remember the Four Brothers Beats blog? Well, the boys are back! BUT... not quite in the way you may have been expecting. It's, how shall we say, "the same, but different!"

Fusion: Where Music, Technology, and Artist Creativity Intersect
Hello readers and listeners. I trust all is well today. This post is a follow-up to the previous post about the subject of an upcoming podcast I hope to resurrect entitled Fusion. The concept of this podcast came to me via an off the cuff discussion I had a few years ago with a fellow podcaster/recording artist/graphic designer. Both of us, being musicians in our own right, began discussing our backgrounds and influences in making music, which invariably talking about how technology (past and present) played a role taking the music from inner to outer. I began to see the different paths ...
