Latin Jazz This Week
Latin Jazz This Week will bring you a weekly look into news from the Latin Jazz world. You’ll find new releases, recommended performances, web finds, and more. You can check out some current sounds in the Listening Center tab at the top of the page. Performance dates will be kept in the Live Latin Jazz tab at the top of the page.
During the 1980s, several of New York’s top musicians came together to form the group Seis Del Solar with vocalist Ruben Blades; the results were some of the best salsa from the decade. The group supported Blades and also recorded some of their own albums, focusing more upon Latin Jazz. The group will be reforming this year to do a tour with Blades, featuring the original lineup that includes pianist Oscar Hernandez, drummer Robby Ameen, timbalero Ralph Irizarry, and more. The blog from New York Latin Jazz hotspot La Fonda Boricua has got the scoop – check it out HERE.
The Global Cafe podcast recently did an interview with Broadway star and Brazilian Jazz vocalist Luba Mason about her new album Krazy Love. Mason has spent much of her career in musical theater, but she does keep a strong connection to the Latin music world; she is married to singer Ruben Blades. Trevor Stottlemyer speaks with Mason about her musical theater career and her love for Brazilian music. Check out the podcast HERE.

All That Jazz: In Celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month

The “Boys” Are Back In Town…
Remember the Four Brothers Beats blog? Well, the boys are back! BUT... not quite in the way you may have been expecting. It's, how shall we say, "the same, but different!"

Hello readers and listeners. I trust all is well today. This post is a follow-up to the previous post about the subject of an upcoming podcast I hope to resurrect entitled Fusion. The concept of this podcast came to me via an off the cuff discussion I had a few years ago with a fellow podcaster/recording artist/graphic designer. Both of us, being musicians in our own right, began discussing our backgrounds and influences in making music, which invariably talking about how technology (past and present) played a role taking the music from inner to outer. I began to see the different paths ...
