SoulTrackin’ – Stars In The ‘Podiverse’ – 2008-01-28
Stars in the ‘Podiverse’, a recap of of last week’s Soul/R&B/Jazz podcast releases.
I don’t know if you’ve noticed it, but there has been an explosion in the number of really good music and/or audio podcasts lately. So much so that it is getting harder to keep track of them all. For example, did you realize that every week, from Wednesday through Sunday there is a new music podcast released for your enjoyment: EJ’s OSW (Wed), TGrundy’s RIBS (Thurs), Fave’s Friday Favecast (Fri), DarrenKeith’s My Love For Music (Sat) and Fresh’s Sunday Soundtrack (Sun). Now if we can get a couple of more people to release regularly on Mon and/or Tues we’d have the whole week covered (DJ Diva, are you out there listening to this? {smile}). This is only the tip of the iceberg, or staying with my analogy, the edge of the Podiverse.
So, each Monday (maybe sometimes late Sunday night) we’ll list the recently released podcasts here just in case you missed one or two.
Stars In The Podiverse: January 28, 2008
- EJ Flavors – OSW: New Day For You
- EJFlavors – In Rotation: Volume 14-January, 2008
- TGrundy – RIBS TPTD: AWB, KC and the Sunshine Band, Hall & Oates
- Fave & Eve – FFC: Move Some
- DarrenKeith – MyLoveForMusic-January 26, 2008
- Fresh – Sunday Soundtrack-27 Jan 08-Incognito
- DJ Diva – OST Artist Spotlight: Tina Turner
- DJ Diva – The JayMoney Prince Workout Mix
- Macedonia – BSOTS #58
- anewlis – Hi5 featuring Jill Scott
OK, did I miss anybody? If so, hit me up at tgrundy [at] gmail.com and I’ll add you this week’s list.
Addendum:
Here are (more than) a few I missed when I made the list earlier…
- DJ GrantLOVE – No Sweat Samples & Grooves
- DJ GrantLOVE – Out The Box
- HoneySoul – Soul 2 Soul: Conversation with Daru & Rena
- HeavySoulBrutha – A “Fonky Jazz” Mix
- Cratedigger - Down and Dirty
- KB – QuickMix On MLK Day
- GeekyCyberMom – Raising Kids In An Always On Society
- City-Witch – Witch In The City #19

Cupid’s Hunt: FAQs…
Filed under: DailyLinks, Music, Playlists, Podcasts, RIBS, SoulSites, radio.blog
Here are the “FAQs” about the Cupid’s Hunt Podcast Event:
Q1. OK, so what exactly is “Cupid’s Hunt”?
A1. “Cupid’s Hunt” (or CH for short) is a collaboration project of music podcasters and music fans in celebration of Valentine’s Day. On this day all of the folks who are participating have agreed to release and make available for download (MP3 format) a music and/or audio podcast with a Valentines Day theme. This year Valentine’s Day (February 14) is on a Thursday.
Q2. Why the name “Cupid’s Hunt”? What does *that* mean?
A2. The name “Cupid’s Hunt” came out of a late night/all night brainstorming session on Twitter. “Cupid”, the symbol of Love/Valentine’s Day and “Hunt”, meaning to search for. When you put them together and apply the phrase to the world of podcasting you have a “search for music online”. Or, as the CH project has been subtitled: “Searching for Love Music… In All The Right Places!”
Q3. Oh OK, now I get it. How do I get involved with the Cupid’s Hunt project.
A3. Easy. Just make a music and/or audio podcast with a Valentine’s Day theme, good love, bad love, want love, hate love… it doesn’t matter, go where ever your creativity takes you. Once your CH podcast is finished we want you to post it online on Valentine’s Day, Thursday, February 14, 2008.
Q4. How will readers who visit my site know my podcast is part of this project?
A4. Glad you asked! There are several ways that your readers will associate your podcast with the Cupid’s Hunt Project:
- We have a Cupid’s Hunt logo that we are asking you to post on your site at least two weeks prior to the event.
- Each participant is asked to start off the Title of your CH post with “Cupid’s Hunt:”, and to also tag their CH post with the keyword “cupidshunt”. (no quotes on the keyword or the phrase in your post Title, of course).
- NetInfoweb.com, our official Cupid’s Hunt “Headquarters”, will be promoting the event and all of the podcasters/blogs involved in the days leading up to the event.
- We also have a webring that we are asking all participating sites to join. This will make the “hunt” easier by giving folks an easy way to move from one site to the next in order to find all of the podcasts.
Q5. Where do I get the Cupid’s Hunt logo?
A5. The logo can be downloaded here: Download Cupid’s Hunt Logo
Q6. How do I join the webring?
A6. The webring is called “SoulSites Podiverse”. The signup page is here: Webring Signup Page
Q7. How do I contact NetInfoWeb.com to give them information about my podcast?
A7. There are a few different contact methods: Send an email to TGrundy [at] gmail.com, or contact me on Twitter (tgrundy), or leave a comment on this post. Please let us know your CH podcast info by noon on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 so we can get it in the promotional post.

We’re talking about the color of Soul on RIBS this week, specifically the lighter shades. Proving that you don’t have to glisten in the sun like bronze to be funky, this week we look at three groups that have turned many a party out back-in-the-day when I was DJing:
- Average White Band
- KC and the Sunshine Band
- Hall & Oates

One of the things I enjoy doing these days is observing the tumultuous changes that are currently underway in the world of music, especially the business of marketing/selling music. Technology, as it always does, has created a situation where there is a new world order being created in the music industry. Unfortunately, it isn’t exactly clear just what that NWO is going to look like, but it is very clear that the old order, i.e. the big music companies, are going to have to change their thinking and drastically reinvent their business practices in order to survive…

I don’t talk about my love for jazz enough on this blog so I figure jazz appreciation month is the perfect time to do so. I have to admit that my knowledge is lacking. Mama Vivrant Thang was never really into jazz so it wasn’t played much around the house. She did love Kenny G though and [...]

Fusion: Where Music, Technology, and Artist Creativity Intersect
Hello readers and listeners. I trust all is well today. This post is a follow-up to the previous post about the subject of an upcoming podcast I hope to resurrect entitled Fusion. The concept of this podcast came to me via an off the cuff discussion I had a few years ago with a fellow podcaster/recording artist/graphic designer. Both of us, being musicians in our own right, began discussing our backgrounds and influences in making music, which invariably talking about how technology (past and present) played a role taking the music from inner to outer. I began to see the different paths ...
