ATLANTA —The Soul Lounge and Groovenation pioneers in the soul music industry, announce its first International Soul Music Summit. The fight to keep the vibe alive kicks off August 11-12, 2006 at the Marriott Atlanta Downtown. Soul lovers from around the world are invited to take part in this groundbreaking conference, which will address the urgency of continuing to promote soul, filled music in an entertainment industry dominated by commercial music.

Soul music has entered a state of emergency. As a result, the genres’ top musicians, producers, executives, promoters, dj’s and connoisseurs of the good vibrations of real music has brought to us all for decades, will have a two-day meeting of the minds in Atlanta, GA Jason Orr, Founder of FunkJazz Kafe, soul artists Jaguar Wright, Martin Luther, Eric Roberson, Algebra, and Javier. Songwriter and musicologist Gordon Chambers, DJ Jamad representing Afromentals/ Sirius Radio, emerging talent Peven Everett, Carlton Hargro, host of Audiofloss Creative Loafing and more will convene for this invaluable session on the progression of soul music into the digital age.

In addition, the summit is pleased to announce the participation of industry insiders such as Bryant Johnson, producer for BET’s Soul Sessions, Barry King of Solar Radio (UK), Deborah Hinds of Soul Talk, John Dean of Solar Radio and The Juice London, Kembo Tom of GTM…It Means A lot, Anthony David, Fiona Bloom of the Bloom Effect and DJ Salah Ananse. Making her Atlanta-debut at the summit is songwriter turned filmmaker, Stephanie Renee unveiling her latest documentary film, “NO SUCH THING AS NEOSOUL”.

Discussions and workshops will begin at 10:00am each day with registration starting at 800am. The discussions will feature a think tank of soul music lovers and providers including Terry Bello, Soul Music Summit GM and founder of The Soul Lounge. Once thought to be primarily an “underground” genre of music, (Neo) Soul has emerged as a strong brand that reaches across traditional ethnic and economic backgrounds. This unprecedented event is a can’t miss for anyone who loves or is a part of this musical movement. Panels are designed to enrich you with information to ignite your career, hone your craft and ultimately save our souls.

”This is a professional conference – about business…the music business. We want attendees to walk away feeling that the mood/vibe was good, the connections were right and there was always soul music going on”, says Terry Bello, Soul Music Summit GM. “It’s about mixing, mingling, connecting and networking so they get ‘hooked up’ and come away with valuable money making connections they did not have before they came. Now is the time to highlight (increase awareness) and recognize (support) this genre of music as it creates an urban vibe that is a life style that expands across the globe and is poised to positively impact the world!”

Those who wish to register online can do so at www.soulsummitonline.com. Serving host to our inaugural soul extravaganza is The Marriott Atlanta Downtown, (formerly the Wyndham), located within walking distance to many Atlanta attractions including Centennial Park, The Georgia Aquarium, Underground Atlanta and the historic Auburn Avenue. As a result, Soul Music Summit participants will receive a special host room rate of $99 per night for double occupancy.
